We think characters in stories should be as diverse as the children who read them.

It's great to see a fun and entertaining picture book which will help to raise awareness of deafness and inspire self-confidence in deaf children.

Julia Donaldson CBE

I love the book because Angel is deaf like me.  It is one of the best books ever!!!

Charlotte (6) is profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants

I didn’t anticipate just how much my deaf daughter would identify with the book, even at the age of two. Diversity of gender, race, disability and age are all subtly included throughout, allowing lots of readers to relate, not just deaf people.

Nicky is mum to Isabelle (2) who is profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants.

There are very few books that feature kids with hearing problems or cochlear implants. This book is essential reading for any young children who have hearing problems to help them feel more included.

James is dad to Luca (6) who is profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants.

I thought the story was very funny and loved how Jake could change shape with his superpower. I also liked that he made a new friend and was kind.

Lauren (7) is severely deaf

It’s great to have a deaf role model that they can relate to and who comes to the rescue and does something amazing."

Lisa, mum to Chloe (6) and Jack (5) who are profoundly deaf and wear cochlear implants.

The story clearly shows how important conversation and feeling included is to a deaf child.

Mark is dad to Cerys (7) who is profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants.

Megan enjoyed the story and looking at the pictures of Daisy with ears like hers. Whilst sharing this story we talked about her friends and how they can help her if she is struggling to hear.

Sherrie is mum to Megan (4) who is profoundly deaf.

It was lovely to read such a beautiful book together. Charlotte is excited to bring it into school to show her friends and teachers a little bit about being “deaf like her”.

Sara is mum to Charlotte (6) who is profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants.

All money raised from book sales will help us to create a world without barriers for deaf children.
